Naples plans to host “Mediterranean GP” in the future

A promotion committee for Naples to host a “Mediterranean Grand Prix” in the breathtaking setting of the Neapolitan seafront has been formed.

Enzo Rivellini, founder of the “Napoli Racing Show” announced it along with Mayor Gaetano Manfredi who expressed: “Naples has a great connection to Motorsport and has hosted very important events. I think that dreaming is possible, that of F1 is a great dream and it is clear that if there was the opportunity we would seize it.” Read full article here: https://gpkingdom.it/en/68484/naples-in-formula-1-a-committee-is-born-to-bring-the-gp-to-life-all-the-details/

Naples has in fact hosted its own Grand Prix from 1948 to 1962 always as a non-championship race during the F1 years. It was held on the 4.100 km (2.491 mile) street circuit on the streets of Posillipo near overlooking the stunning beauty of the Naples coastline. This circuit has been recreated as a mod in Assetto Corsa for you to try out and view its layout here. https://youtu.be/ceevzO79rqg?si=SHxVu3h7kXvNTmoK

To find it on Google Maps, Turn 1 is right at the entrance of Parco Virgiliano.
