This 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 underwent a refurbishment in Bolivia in 2022 and was imported to the US following the seller’s acquisition in 2025. The body was refinished in yellow, and the cabin was retrofitted with a later-model dashboard and steering wheel. Power is provided by a 4.2-liter 2F inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case, and equipment includes a removable hardtop with a white roof as well as manually locking front hubs, 16″ steel wheels, power steering, a pintle hitch, air conditioning, a heater, rear jump seats, and a Sony Bluetooth stereo linked to Kenwood speakers. This FJ40 is now offered with a South Carolina title in the name of the seller’s LLC.
The truck was refinished in what the seller describes as Mustard Yellow in 2022, at which time doors specified for a later model were installed. Details include a removable hardtop with a white roof along with side mirrors, rear bumperettes, rear ambulance-style doors, a pintle hitch, and a rear-mounted spare tire.

The 16″ steel wheels were mounted with Terraking tires in 2025 according to the seller. The truck is equipped with manually locking front hubs and power steering. The suspension and braking components are noted to have been serviced in 2022.

The front bucket seats and inward-facing rear jump seats are trimmed in gray upholstery that extends to the door panels, and a heater and air conditioning system were added during the refurbishment. Additional details include a black floor covering, three-point front seat belts, dual sun visors, and a Sony Bluetooth stereo linked to Kenwood speakers in the rear cabin.

A dashboard, three-spoke steering wheel, and various knobs and levers specified for a 1984 model were installed. Instrumentation includes a 160-km/h speedometer as well as gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 1,700 kilometers (~1,000 miles), and total mileage is unknown. The South Carolina title lists an odometer reading of 1,702.

The 4.2-liter 2F inline-six is equipped with a single carburetor, and it is said to have been overhauled along with the four-speed manual transmission in 2022, at which time the electrical system was replaced. The battery and alternator were replaced in 2025 according to the seller.

Various underside components were refinished during the refurbishment. Additional underbody photos are provided in the gallery.
